TWO POEMS ON THE THEME OF REALITY AND DISTRACTION
Poem #1
Saw a hubcap
took a shot
wrote a poem
pondered life
waxed hermetic
googled clicks
published poem
waited
three days
for the revelation
I own
the hubcap
not anymore
Poem #2
while
masticating
the mystical
composing
an esoteric
elucidation
an ode
to underlying
understanding
I missed
the mundane
obfuscated
the obvious
overlooked
the overt
the
sacred
shape
I shot
belonged
below
my bumper
now
it's
gone
forever
providence
providing
the possiblity
to peruse
a cemetery
of sacred shapes
for a satisfying
shooting spree
Photo note: The cat was chosen for his expression of disbelief and mild distain.
Hi Dakota. Loved this poem as well. Is obfiscate spelled with a "U"? i.e. obfuscate?
Don
You are entirely correct. I have taken the liberty of changing it, even though I understand that is considered bad bloggish behavior. Thank you for your good editing. Movable Type, sadly, has no spell checker, (but you).
So, what decade are you in, do you write poetry, and what do you think of the cancellation of the NHL season?
Glad that you dropped by again. D
Posted by: Dakota at April 6, 2005 08:00 PMHi Don -
I have been trying to brush up on the NHL before I answered you, but... In general, I think that most professional players (of any kind) make far too much money. As a consequence I have little sympathy for the union either, especially when they cause the cancellation of an entire season, which has an economic impact on so many other small businesses.
Can I count on you to spell check for me?
Best D
